Jason English and James Deen Daydream Win Madness $10,000 Limited Horse Western Pleasure

His barn name might be Hotrod, but James Deen Daydream showed slow and steady for Jason English to win the $2,000 Added $10,000 Limited Horse Western Pleasure at the 2017 Madness AQHA/NSBA circuit on Thursday. They showed for Kari Craft, and earned $1,241 for the win.

“We got him in December of his two year old year,” Jason said. “He had been started, but he had never been shown. I just really like how he profiles. He looks through the bridle really well and his legs just swing like a pendulum together. And he shows great on or off the rail.”

The four-year-old bay gelding is by Machine Made and out of the Impulsions/Hotrodders Jet Set bred mare Miss Heartrodder. Owner Kari Craft teamed up with him early last year and has accumulated nine AQHA class wins through the Lexington, Virginia show, including winning classes at Tampa, Florida and Lexington, Virginia, this year, and achieved an AQHA Register of Merit in Amateur Western Pleasure. “Kari has won or been the reserve circuit champion everywhere she has shown him, and they just had a great show at the Lucky Seven too,” Jason said. Jason and Jamie Murrow have added an Open Register of Merit in Western Pleasure as well.

Jason expressed his appreciation for the Limited Horse class. “It’s really great that this class is offered,” he said. “It’s perfect for a horse like him who wasn’t shown as a two year old and now has another year before he has to compete against the Open Maturity horses that have been so successful.”

Hotrod will next compete at the Little Futurity, and continue to major futurities throughout the year. “We hope to start showing him in Western Riding by the end of the year,” Jason said.

Jason enjoys the Madness show and has enjoyed his time in Ohio so far. “The weather has been great, and there are plenty of places to ride,” he said.
