Showing Guide to Showing Show/Membership Requirements

Show/Membership Requirements

Show Application

NSBA requires a minimum of two categories for show approval. The classes may be held alone or in conjunction with any other NSBA recognized breed association show. The categories for approval are Longe Line, Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Trail, Western Riding and Working Hunter/Hunter Hack. Event format, entry fees, late fees, etc. are all decided by show management.

All show applications and approval fees must be received by the NSBA office at least 90 days prior to the event. Show applications for established shows may be considered for approval between 45 days and 90 days with a $100 late fee. International shows and approval fees must be received at least 45 days prior to the event. Applications can be submitted to the NSBA Office with judges pending. A copy of the show bill or show premium should be submitted with the application also.

An application fee is required with each application. The application fee for a Category I show ($10,000 or more added money) is $250. The application fee for a Category II show (less than $10,000 added money) is $100. If your show is offering ONLY Dual Approved, Special Event and/or Walk-Trot classes, the application fee is $75 per judge or set of points awarded.

Membership Requirements

NSBA Show Managers and Show Secretaries are required to be current NSBA members prior to the start of the show.

The owner and exhibitor are also required to be current NSBA members in order to show in an event. Memberships may be purchased at the show. A one-time show pass may also be purchased at the show instead of a membership. The show pass will allow the exhibitor to show in the NSBA classes at that show only. At a Dual Approved or Special Event show, each set of points will require a show pass unless a membership is purchased. If a member does not have a card to present, a duplicate membership should be purchased. Membership fees are to be returned to NSBA with the corresponding forms and the show results.
