The 2018 NSBA World Championship Show continues its record-breaking pace as it hits the mid-week of the show schedule. More than 25 NSBA champions and futurity champions were crowned throughout the day..

Futurity Fever

Several futurity champion silver cups were awarded to the champions in NSBA’s Breeders Championship Futurity classes throughout the day.

Rebecca Kazakevicius was the first champion of the moring when she piloted Maid Me Good to win the Breeders Championship Futurity Two Year Old Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle. The bay gelding is by Good I Will Be and out of Beautiful Maiden.
.

In the Breeders Championship Futurity Two Year Old Limited Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle, Sarah Rosciti showed Easy On The Eyez to the futurity championship.

“We bred and raised him,” Sarah said. “He’s by Protect Your Assets and out of This Is Why Im Hot. I did all the work on him myself, so that makes this win really special. I love his canter, and he’s just big and strong. His mind is my favorite part about him.

“This was my first time to show him, and I was really pleased with his maiden trip. We came 1,500 miles to get here, and we just brought him, so it was worth the trip.”

Brian Isbell road Smooth Details for John Lorton and Buddy Henn to win the Breeders Championship Futurity Three Year Old Limited Open Hunter Under Saddle.

The mare returned to where she has had success in the past. “We won the Longe Line here with her as a yearling,” John said.

“She was so growthy that we waited to break her out. She has a great personality, and carries herself really well, with great expression. She’s great legged and she has a lot of heart.”
.

Janae Walker had tried to show at the NSBA World Championship Show a number of times, but winning the Breeders Championship Futurity 4-6 Year Old Limited Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle with her horse Mito Been Me was worth the wait.

“We had to put my horse down last year before we got here once, and every time I tried to get here it just never worked out until this year,” Janae said. “This was my first time to show Daisy. She was so good. She’s my silver lining horse. She’s perfect. She loves to show, and for a big horse, you can put her anywhere. She’s very consistent."
.

Shesa Hot Selection is now a multiple NSBA world champion, adding the Breeders Championship Futurity 3-6 Year Old Color Open Hunter Under Saddle to her list of accomplishments, with Jamie English riding for owner Sunni Duke.

“With Sunni’s focus on the All Around events, for some horses it would be a challenge to prepare for both the futurities and the All Around, but this horse makes it easy to get it done,” Jamie noted of the mare by Extremely Hot Chips who has Pinto and AQHA registration.

“I think doing both things helps keep her body together and her mind fresh. I think she really likes being able to stick her neck and head out there and go. She’s so enjoyable to be around.”

Another repeat world champion was Zensational, who won the Breeders Championship Futurity Color Two Year Old Open Western Pleasure. Sarah Simons showed for MC’s Dragon Ranch.

Taylor Searles and Hereicomagain won a futurity championship title in the Breeders Championship Futurity 4-6 Year Old Limited Non-Pro Western Pleasure for Taylor's parents long-time client and friend, owner Kathy Tobin.

“Kathy bought her as a yearling,” Taylor said of the five year old mare by Good I Will Be.

“She’s really naturally talented. She loves her job and she’s such a pretty mover. She’s pretty tired because she was busy showing yesterday and really the last couple of weeks.

In the Breeders Championship Futurity Three Year Old Limited Open Western Pleasure, Theresa Wills showed An Absolute Martini to the futurity win. “We just got him in May, and we’ve been fine-tuning and finding the broke buttons,” Theresa said of the stallion by The Best Martini.

“I’m pretty excited about this win. It’s my second major futurity win. I’m so glad to be a part of Hollywood’s career. We plan to stand him in 2019.”
.

Allison Clark McDonald showed Sketchie Details to win the Breeders Championship Futurity 4-6 Year Old Limited Open Hunter Under Saddle for Nicole Kuklinski.

“He was good. He was soft and had his ears up. His top line was really good and he was very consistent,” Allison said of the gelding by Hot N Blazing, out of a Last Detail mare.
.

World Champions Crowned

In addition to the Breeders Championship Futurity titles awarded, a number of NSBA world champions were also named.

Two horses saw repeat championship wins on Wednesday. Aaron Moses piloted Heart Stoppin for Voge Quarter Horses to win the world title in the Two Year Old Open Western Pleasure, while Erin Lieurance showed VodkaMadeMeDoIt to win the Two Year Old Intermediate Open Western Pleasure..

.

The successful partnership of Dawn Baker and Joanne and L.T. Taylor continues. This year the duo brought Without Permission to win the Color Three Year Old Open Hunter Under Saddle world title. The double-registered gelding known as Noah is double registered with AQHA and APHA and is by The Ultimate Fancy.

“He’s so fun to show,” Dawn said. “When you’re trotting, it feels like your floating. He has lots of expression and you can tell he wants to be a show horse.”.

In the Equestrians With Disabilities Showmanship, Martha Wallace and Consider Me Smooth were named world champions.

“My horse’s name is Fancy,” Martha said.

“My favorite part of the pattern was the pivot. We just started showing together. I like showing Fancy because we get to dress up.”

Dr. Lori Leigh Ward won a world title in just her second horse show to ever show Trail when the duo won the Novice Amateur Trail on Wednesday. “This was my first NSBA world title,” Dr. Ward said.

“She was really good at the lope overs. I don’t get to practice long. Amanda Ringer spent a lot of time helping me get this mare ready. I can’t thank her, Shannon Curl, and Katie and Rusty Green enough for their help. They told me it’s really tough for a Novice rider and a green horse to do this, but we gave it a try.”
.

In the Novice Amateur Western Riding, Laina Banks showed Strawberri Wine to the world championship title in a unanimous decision on all the judges cards.

“I had a world championship in 1990, so it’s been a long stretch,” Laina noted. “My horse is just so special. You step over and she just goes with you. She’s got a lot of personality.”

The NSBA World Championship Show and Breeders Championship Futurity continues through Sunday, August 19. Be sure to check the NSBA Facebook page for updates regarding night riding schedules and announcements recognizing 2018 world champions throughout the week.
