The National Snaffle Bit Association is saddened to report the passing of long-time NSBA and NSBA Foundation friend and Non-Pro exhibitor Mary (Lynn) Leedy, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Mary Lynn Leedy (“Lynn”) passed peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on July 2, 2021 in her hometown of Oklahoma City. Lynn was born January 25, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri to J. Walter Duncan Jr. and Ann Louise’s Burke and is survived by her beloved children Bradley Burke Leedy and Sarah Lynn Dooley (and David) and grandchildren Bailey Paulson (and Devin), Isley Kate Leedy and Mary Lynn Leedy.

Lynn’s love of horses was only eclipsed by her love of family. She was an accomplished horsewoman by any measure. From earning her first world championship at the age of 9 to her most recent love and ownership of So Dang Lazy (“Leroy”). Her life was filled with accomplishments and success in the horse world. Some of Lynn’s most noteworthy accomplishments include: acquiring Dandy Zippo in 1989 and they went on to make history, including becoming the leading sire of performance horses in 1997; Winning multiple world championships in Western Pleasure, Halter, Saddleseat and Fine Harness. In recent years Lynn found her equine kindred spirit in Leroy. He offered Lynn her final rides and she so cherished every stride.
The family would like to acknowledge the dear partnerships Lynn shared with so many horsemen and women over the decades. She was the first to acknowledge all of the help she received from so many trainers, breeders and friends. She often spoke of these relationships with the same endearment as she spoke of her children and grandchildren. The list is too long to mention but we would be remiss in not acknowledging all of your impact on her life.
A funeral service will be held Britton Christian Church at 10am on July 20, 2021, with burial to follow at Rose Hill.
The family suggest donations be sent to Britton Christian Church or King’s Klinic both located at 922 NW 91st st. Oklahoma City, OK 73114. .

Lynn was a huge supporter of the NSBA Foundation. She served as a board member in 2014, and was an active donor for various Foundation programs. Her family’s Silver Oak Winery donated wine for the auction and wine pull fundraisers, and Lynn was also an active bidder during the silent auction events at the NSBA World Championship Show. She had the winning bid on a trip to the National Finals Rodeo which was auctioned in 2016, and took her family to the finals that December.

NSBA extends its sympathy to Lynn’s family and friends
