The National Snaffle Bit Association is saddened to report that the AQHA stallion Mechanic was laid to rest on October 15.
Sired in 2010 by A Good Machine and out of Zippin Thru Town (by Dont Skip Zip), Mechanic was bred by Johnny Pope in Conway, South Carolina, and later purchased by Sandra Morgan. The stallion quickly proved his athleticism by earning 72.5 AQHA Western Pleasure points as well as 14 AQHA Hunter Under Saddle points and 10.5 AQHA Performance Halter Stallion points. Proving his versatility, he earned a reserve championship in Western Pleasure as well as a champion title in Hunter Under Saddle at the All American Quarter Horse Congress.
In his years as a breeding sire, Mechanic has sired 303 foals who have to date earned 3,320 AQHA points as well as $72,993 in NSBA earnings. His foals have seen success in the performance pen as well as in Halter and Performance Halter classes with both Open and Non-Pro exhibitors. Mechanic will be forever associated with his iconic “wrench” logo that accompanied his advertisements.
