APHA and NSBA members earned some serious cash in Breeders Trust and Sweepstakes classes throughout the day on Saturday at the APHA World Championship Show in Fort Worth, Texas.

Starnes, Snapp Win Breeders Trust Two Year Old Western Pleasure Stake
Jay Starnes piloted Never Had I Ever to win the Open division of the Breeders Trust Two Year Old Western Pleasure Stakes, earning the $10,005 check for owner Dakota Andrie, while Tim Snapp rode Good To Know to win the Limited division of the class and $3,751.00.
Jay rode the two year old mare known as Madonna, who is by No Doubt Im Lazy and out of A Certain Illusion. “She’s really easy to prepare,” he said. “I’ve shown her quite a bit between the NSBA World Show and a few other places before here. She’s really getting to be more fun to show as the summer has gone on. Now she’s been better to show than to prepare.
“She was really good in today’s class. She likes her job. She’s so even, and she jogs great and lopes great – plus she’s really pretty. She catches your attention.” The duo has a few more two year old classes to show at this year’s APHA World Championship Show.
Tim Snapp rode Good To Know, a stallion that he and his wife Cindy bred and raised. By CR Good Machine and out of A Little Extra Zip, the stallion is known as Mac. “He’s named after Cindy’s dad, because he was born on Mac’s birthday,” Tim said.
The Snapps thought they had a special colt, and trainers Wade and Carly Parks confirmed their initial thoughts. “We had Wade and Carly look at him when he was a yearling, and they liked him too.”
Tim showed Mac at the NSBA World Championship Show last month and won the Non-Pro Color Two Year Old Western Pleasure. “I wasn’t planning to show him in this class, but we thought I might have a better shot as a Limited rider, and it worked out.”

All Time Vandal Wins Non-Pro Two Year Old Hunter Under Saddle
Another stallion won his owner a check in the Non-Pro Two Year Old Hunter Under Saddle when Allie Littlefield piloted her horse All Time Vandal to the win and $728. “It’s just been amazing,” she said. “He has won three of his four classes here at the APHA World Show.
Allie bought the colt known as Graffiti as a weanling. “He was just so freaky legged,” she said. “I really didn’t buy him as a stallion prospect, but he showed the talent and the mind to remain a stallion. He has turned out to be a very special horse. He’s won almost $20,000 so far this year.
“He is just a very different style of horse, and he is such a loud color that he just stands out,” she added. “We weren’t sure what the judges would think of him, but they seem to like him too.”

Colleen Bull and Been There Scene It Win Masters Amateur Senior Pleasure
Although APHA World Show attendees may be used to seeing Colleen Bull with her long-time All Around partner Tuscon, Colleen’s newest partner, Winston, is proving he can win the big classes too.
Colleen showed Been There Scene It to win the Masters Amateur Senior Western Pleasure. “I’ve had Winston for about three years now,” Colleen said. “While Tuscon is on vacation, this gave me the opportunity to focus on Winston. We’ve been concentrating on Western Pleasure at first because that is what he knew, but we’re starting to add Trail, Western Riding and Horsemanship. He’s six years old, and I’m looking forward to showing him in the other events too.
Colleen saw Mike Hachtel win the Green Western Pleasure with Winston at the APHA World Show a few years before. “I asked Mike about him, and he told me that he was an orphan, and that he is sweet and easy going, and very much a pocket pet. I was able to try him, and things just sort of fell together with him. He is incredibly sweet and loving.”

Other champions on Saturday included All Good and Beth Case, showing for Kent Ray Taylor, winning the Three Year Old Hunter Under Saddle and Southern Bell Breeders division; Novice Amateur Trail champions KM Jazz It Up and Dr. Lori Leigh Ward; Red Hot Code and Janice Wolfe, Amateur Yearling In Hand Trail champions; Cheevas On The Rocks and Nathalie Richer, Amateur Solid Paint Bred Yearling In Hand Trail champions; Amateur Senior Western Pleasure and Shine My Zipper Memorial Award champions John Simon and Erin Bradshaw Weiss, who won the class for the sixth time, along with Intermediate champions Can I Get Your Number and Cory Mathia; The American Gigolo and Cox-Melanie Dayhuff, Amateur Two Year Old Longe Line champions; Al Bet Ur Two Faced and Brian Isbell Garcia, Junior Hunter Under Saddle champions along with Ventura Boulevard and Calli Rouse, Intermediate champions; and Green Western Pleasure champions Bank On The Best and Shannon Gillespie.
