NSBA is saddened to report that AQHA stallion Blazing Hot was laid to rest on Saturday, May 4, after declining health.

Foaled in 1992, Blazing Hot was by Hotrodders Jet Set and out of Tahnee Zippo. He earned AQHA world championships in Junior Western Pleasure and Junior Western Riding on the same day in 1996. He also earned multiple Congress championships including winning the Two Year Old Western Pleasure Futurity, Three Year Old Open and Limited Open Western Pleasure Futurity and Junior Western Pleasure. The stallion earned an AQHA Superior award in Western Pleasure as well as $37,755 in esarnings and was inducted into the NSBA Hall of Fame in 2010.

Bred, raised, trained and loved by Joan Schroeder and Robbie Schroeder, Blazing Hot saw an even greater impact on the horse industry as a sire. More than half of his 1,876 foals would become NSBA money earners and world champions in everything from Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Halter, Reining, Pole Bending, Barrel Racing and Ranch Riding to Roping. He sired multiple NSBA world champions as well as 2005 NSBA Horse of the Year Hot Lopin Louise.

Blazing Hot’s offspring have earned $3,638,195 in futurity earnings and more than 69,000 AQHA points. That total includes a staggering 353 AQHA Superior, 865 Register of Merit and 26 AQHA Champion awards as well as 22 AQHA world championships. The stallion’s name appeared on the AQHA Leading Sires list for many years, and he produced two sons whose names would also appear on the same list along with him. He ranked among the top one percent of AQHA sires of all time with money earners in Western Pleasure, Western All Around English All Around, and All Events.
