The National Snaffle Bit Association is saddened to report that Joe Paris of Adrian, Michigan, has passed away. 

The long-time horse trainer loved Western Pleasure horses and was a life member of NSBA. Joe showed as a Non-Pro and later a Limited Open and Open rider over the years with NSBA. Most notably, he showed Sonnys Black Gold in Western Pleasure in the 1980s, earning $7,348.72 in NSBA competition.

Joe is survived by his three daughters, Ty (fiancé Kyle Dougherty), Jodi (Wesley) Postell, and Michelle Fowler, as well as two sisters, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A private service will be held for family and loved ones at a later date.

Joe’s family has requested that memorial gifts be directed to the National Snaffle Bit Association Foundation Trainer Crisis Fund at or mailed to NSBA at 1391 St Paul Avenue, Gurnee, IL 60031. Arrangements are being managed by Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian, Michigan.
