Lola Knight, of Kernersville, North Carolina, has been named the 2021 NSBA Foundation’s youth scholarship recipient.

This ambitious sixteen year old has not only graduated from the Early College of Forsyth, but also earned an associate of arts degree from Forsyth Technical Community College. With her advanced placement classes, Lola will enter a four-year college as a junior. She is currently finalizing her plans to study equine business management or business administration this fall.

“When I found out I could make a career by training and boarding horses, my decision was made. There was no question in my mind that this was what I wanted to spend my life doing,” she said.

Lola has already worked for Steve and Jennifer Reams as well as Jeremy May, learning the life of a professional horse trainer. She also serves as North Carolina Quarter Horse Youth Association’s 2021 press secretary.

Lola has long been involved in the horse industry, in disciplines from Cutting and Reining to Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure events. She started and trained KM Smooth N Fancy, whom she took to an AQHA All Around title. She has also started a number of young and green horses and recently purchased Batterfly Kisses to pursue All Around events.

NSBA and the NSBA Foundation congratulate Lola!

The road to an NSBA Foundation scholarship begins with an application, which is due February 1 of each year. The NSBA Foundation’s volunteer selection committee reviews all applications, essays and scholastic scores to determine the annual recipient.

The NSBA Foundation’s Youth Scholarship program is one of the five programs administered by the Foundation. The Foundation’s scholarship fund relies strictly on donations, and accepts donations of any size as well as special memorial scholarship contributions to present the award each year.
