The National Snaffle Bit Association and Markel Insurance are pleased to announce a new joint sponsorship of three All Breed Hunter Derby events this summer for the Hunter community.

NSBA and Markel are co-sponsoring the $5,000 Added Markel Insurance Low Hunter Derby and $5,000 Added Markel Insurance High Derby at the Big A/Stars N Stripes Show, which will be held at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, Georgia, on July 3. Both events will have a guaranteed purse of $5,000 paid to participants. An additional $500 will paid to the highest placing Non-Pro exhibitor in each class. The third event will be the $5,000 Markel Insurance NSBA Hunter Derby held at the NSBA World Championship Show and Breeders Championship Futurity at the Built Ford Tough Livestock Complex in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on August 11. The purse for the NSBA World Show’s Hunter Derby is also guaranteed with a payout of $1,500 for first place. An additional $1,000 will be paid to the highest placing Non-Pro exhibitor. Entry information for this class will be available with NSBA World Show entries, with the first entry deadline on June 28.

“NSBA is excited to team up with our long-term corporate sponsor Markel Insurance to offer these purses to the Hunter Jumper community. They have long been a sponsor of our yearling sale and we are looking forward to the expansion of this co-sponsorship,” noted Stephanie Lynn, NSBA executive director.
