The National Snaffle Bit Association is saddened to announce the passing of Non-Pro exhibitor Linda Neece on Saturday, July 15. Linda's family requested privacy during this time of mourning and in honoring their wishes, this announcement was delayed.
Linda was devoted to her family first and foremost, but after that it was all about the horses that she loved. She is best known for her Western Pleasure gelding, For One Night Only. Linda never left the show grounds until she had personally seen to his care. Under the tutelage of Rusty and Katie Green and later Aaron Moses, ‘Sid’ won both the Junior and Senior Western Pleasure at the AQHA World Championship Show. Over the years, Sid won eight Congress championships and Linda rode him to the Level 2 Amateur Western Pleasure world championship and AQHA reserve world champion title in Select Amateur Western Pleasure. Win, lose or draw, Linda came out of the ring with a big smile and a big congratulations to the other competitors in her class.
Her friendship was a special gift, given to few, and if you were lucky enough to be that recipient you would have thought that you had won the lottery. She always saw the good in people, always lent a helping hand and always set the bar high on integrity.
For more than a year, Linda fought lung cancer. Throughout that time, she never gave in and never gave up. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Linda is survived by her sons, Phillip Neece and Robert Johnson Neece, her grandson Maddox and her stepson Joel.
A private graveside service will be held on Monday, July 24. Those wishing to honor her memory can make donations to either the NSBA Foundation’s Crisis Fund or to the Susan Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund.
