As you probably already know, the NSBA World Championship Show and Breeders Championship Futurity offers classes for exhibitors and horses of all ages and skill levels, so it was only natural that many of the pattern classes have become quite popular for both professionals and Non-Pros alike.
Sale Graduates Earn Money In Trail
This year for the very first time, the Markel Insurance Breeders Championship Futurity Yearling Sale graduates includes a trio of three year old horses that qualified for a portion of the sale graduate purse through a BCF Trail class.
The Breeders Championship Futurity Non-Pro Three Year Old Trail class saw Do Not Doubt Me, shown by Michaela Dingel, who placed eighth; A Delightful Machine, shown by Hannah Cain, earned ninth place; and Some Mechanics R Hot, shown by Rebecca Ries-Walter, who claimed the tenth place prize. All will receive a share of the purse for graduates from the 2017 yearling sale.
Owners of horses that sold as yearlings through the Markel Insurance Breeders Championship Futurity Yearling Sale can choose to declare a specific class in which to compete during their horse’s two year old or three year old year for a portion of the purse designated for that graduating class. Once all the horses have shown in their respective classes, the purse is divided by class, and if more than one horse places in a class is further divided by NSBA’s payout rules.r.
Some of the other sale graduates who earned a portion of the sale graduate purse on Friday included two year olds Glamazon Girl and Sarah Heeley, earning fifth in the BCF Two Year Old Non-Pro Intermediate Open Western Pleasure; Willy Invite Brandy and Morgan Brickham, fourth, and Flat Otta Money and Taylor Deppen, seventh, BCF Two Year Old Limited Non-Pro Western Pleasure..
Janice Warford Wins Three Year Old Non-Pro Trail
In the same Breeders Championship Three Year Old Non-Pro Trail, Janice Warford guided Good To Be Lazy through the course to a first place finish. “We’ve just been doing the Trail since January since he’s just three,” Janice said.
“I love doing all the maneuvers, and going over all the difference obstacles. It’s a great way to connect with your horse.”
Good To Be Lazy is sired by Lazy Loper, and is known in the barn as Ritchie.

Sara Simons Earns First Championships In Western Riding
Although Sara Simons has been showing in Western Riding classes since she was a young girl, she won her first two world championships in the event during this year’s NSBA World Show with Hez Blazin Trouble. She showed for new owner Bonnie Sheren. The duo won the Color Western Riding the other day and on Friday won the Green Junior Western Riding.
“It’s my first time to ever show Western Riding at the NSBA World Show. Parker keeps a great top line and a really nice rhythm, and he’s super solid for me considering he’s a four year old and has shown just 10 or 12 times in the Western Riding in his whole life,” Sara said.
“He just got started with it at the first of the year. It’s so natural for him – I can’t take much credit. He won the Color Junior Trail and was reserve in the Color Hunter Under Saddle here as well.”

Rebecca Bunting Earns First World Title In Novice Amateur Western Riding
JRebecca Bunting and Hez Raising The Bar earned the world championship in Novice Amateur Western Riding on Friday.
“This is the first time I’ve ever shown at the NSBA World Show, let alone win a world championship,” Rebecca said. “I also showed in Select Amateur Showmanship, and the Color Trail with my other horse. When I show, the biggest challenge is just handling my nerves. For my Select Western Riding pattern, I was a little wee bit fast, so I just wanted to relax and let it happen. I kept telling myself to relax, relax, relax. I was really happy with it, and it paid off.
“Junior was a Christmas present from my husband. I’ve always wanted to get into the Western Riding. Bruce Vickery and Anthony Montes found the perfect partner for me. I got on him and within the first five minutes, I knew this was the horse for me.”

'Danni' Takes Jason Martin To Senior Western Riding World Championship
ason Martin ended the day in the Ford Truck Arena much as he as in other years, as the world champion in Senior Western Riding. However, this year he took a new mount to the title. He showed Zippin A Breeze, or Danni, to the world title for Knapp Quarter Horses.
“The pattern that we do here in the Ford Arena is so different from any other pattern and was drawn up specially to accommodate the awards stage in the middle of the pen,” Jason explained.
“The Senior horses get so used to the other patterns that they do throughout the year, that this pattern is good because it makes them listen to you. They don’t know what’s next so they wait for you to tell them what to do.”
Both the first and second place horses are in their first year as senior horses with reserve champion Hereicomagain, shown by Deanna Searles, also at six years old.
