NSBYA News - Riley Walburn

By Riley Walburn

Since I was a little girl, my family has raised me with strong Christian values and a deep commitment to helping others through charitable organizations. One of the things I’m most proud of is that my Papa and Nana, Butch and Robin Rice, built their company, Stallion Transportation Group,  on a foundation of Christian values and giving to others. Stallion recently received the Best Philanthropy Company in Arkansas, awarded by AY magazine. My family’s commitment to philanthropy and Christian values have shown me, as Jesus taught, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

Stallion has been involved with many organizations that help those in need. My Papa has always been passionate about helping others, and that passion has inspired my whole family to get involved. For years, they have supported Special Olympics of Arkansas, and I have had the privilege of working at different events to support the athletes. I have also helped serve the Arkansas Hunger Alliance by gleaning watermelons, pears, and peaches for the Arkansas Food Banks. One of the special charities that Stallion is involved in is the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where I have gotten to dress as a Disney character, presenting Disney wishes.

Another way my family serves is through the National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) and the Equestrians with Disabilities (EWD) program. This program is really special to me because it combines my love for horses with the chance to make a difference in people’s lives. It’s incredible to see the joy on the riders' faces as they interact with the horses. I always look forward to participating in the awards ceremonies, where they are recognized. Through this work, my faith has grown stronger as I’ve seen how much of a difference we can make in people’s lives.

I am so grateful to the Parrish family—Brett, Candy, Cody, and Tana—not only for their training, but for their kindness, patience, and understanding. They have been a great example of what it means to live a life of faith. They have provided spiritual environments and have helped shape who I am. My entire family greatly appreciates the positive influence the Parrish’s have had on my life.

I want to thank the NSBA for giving me the opportunity to ride and participate in a sport I love, while working with the EWD program. Helping others has brought so much joy and meaning to my life, and I believe it’s something everyone should experience. I have learned that serving others is how we show God’s love and grace. I hope to continue this work and inspire others to get involved too.
